In late October 2022, a citizens’ delegation of five youths from Asuncion, Paraguay and two officials from the city visited Japan and held various events including a soccer exchange in Asuncion’s sister city, Chiba City. GOROM Association assisted the visiting delegation in their sightseeing tour of Tokyo and Yamanashi over October 25th and 26th. Two Japanese students from GOROM Association participated in the cultural exchange with Asuncion students.
On the first day, they visited Tokyo, visiting Shinjuku, Asakusa, Tokyo Sky Tree, and Shibuya. For the students, it was an experience to experience both the traditional and the technology-filled modern aspects of Japanese culture. On the second day, the students traveled to Yamanashi to visit Narusawa Ice Cave and Fujikyu Highland. The temperature inside the ice cave was as cold as 0°C (32°F) and there were icicles, making it a very mysterious place. At Fujikyu Highland, the students enjoyed roller coasters, a Ferris wheel, a haunted house, and other attractions with the beautiful scenery of the Mt Fuji.
We hope that the two days in Asuncion will be an irreplaceable memory for the students and a valuable experience of international exchange.
